South Oakleigh College is proud to open the New Food Technology Centre in Term 1 of 2016.
A High Achievers’ Assembly was held at South Oakleigh College to celebrate the success of past students of our college who followed their passion and dreams to succeed in their chosen careers.
Our special guest was Peter Hitchener from Channel 9 News who spoke about his own career.
Our past students have become doctors, scientists, authors, teachers and successful businessmen and women. At the assembly they were represented by Sonny Tan, a secondary school Maths teacher, Thanh Ho, a scientist working in biomedical research and Amy Lister a pilot and great role model for girls. Lach-lan Burgin, a passionate writer, spoke about the exam techniques he used to gain a study score of 48 out 50 for English.
We have many opportunities at this school to challenge and extend students and help them succeed in-cluding: enrichment programs in creative writing, script writing and film making, extension Maths classes, the chance to attend Physics lectures at Melbourne University, a homework club, a weekly Year 12 Study Skills program, the opportunity to enter external competitions or the chance to be creative with music, art, theatre and a state of the art TV studio. We encourage all of our students to follow their dreams and make it happen.
