Child Safety
South Oakleigh College is committed to Child Safety. Candidates must be able to demonstrate an understanding of appropriate behaviours when engaging with children and where appropriate be able to demonstrate experience working with children. Applicants will have the opportunity to indicate their understanding of, or any experience they have in working with children with diverse needs and/or backgrounds.
Mandatory Checks
Police Checks: All successful candidates are required to undertake criminal records checks. The criminal records checks cover all countries of citizenship and for each country in which the individual has lived for 12 months or longer over the past five years (or more).
Working With Children Checks: All successful candidates must obtain and provide a valid Working with Children Check.
The provision of these documents is at the candidates own expense. The requirement for criminal records checks allows people to self-select out of the process if they wish to do so.
Vacant Positions:
Leading Teacher: Student Wellbeing
Leading teachers will be highly skilled classroom practitioners and undertake leadership and management roles commensurate with their salary range. The role of leading teachers is to improve the skill, knowledge and performance of the teaching workforce in a school or group of schools and to improve the curriculum program of a school.

Classroom Teacher: Maths/Science
The classroom teacher classification comprises two salary ranges- range 1 and range 2. The primary focus of the classroom teacher is on the planning, preparation and teaching of programs to achieve specific student outcomes. The classroom teacher engages in critical reflection and inquiry in order to improve knowledge and skills to effectively engage students and improve their learning.

Graduate Teacher: Maths/Science
The primary focus of the range 1 classroom teacher is on further developing skills and competencies to become an effective classroom practitioner with structured support and guidance from teachers at higher levels and the planning, preparation and teaching of programs to achieve specific student outcomes.

Education Support: Student Wellbeing Support
Range 3 is distinguished by the introduction of management responsibility and accountability for the delivery of professional support services. The role will usually impact beyond the work area or professional field. It seeks to gain cooperation of other staff members or members of the school community to achieve specific objectives, such as in school administration, operations or educational programs.
