Notice to Prospective 2023 Enrolments

Due to South Oakleigh College experiencing significant enrolment pressure the Department of Education & Training (DET) has capped enrolments. The College is only able to consider enrolment for students based on the following DET guidelines:

  • Students for whom South Oakleigh College is the nearest neighbourhood school*
  • Students who reside permanently at the same address as a brother or sister attending South Oakleigh College
  • In a limited number of cases only, a student may be enrolled on compassionate grounds, where there are significant family or individual circumstances

Please note that evidence of permanent resident address in the South Oakleigh College neighbourhood zone is required as part of this process.

Enrolment Process

If you are interested in enrolling your child into our College please refer to our enrolment process below:

Grade 6 to Year 7 Transition

The Enrolment (Transition) Process for children commencing in Year 7 is managed in partnership between the secondary and primary schools with the process commencing early in Term 2 each year.

A Grade 6 Transition Co-ordinator is appointed as the teacher responsible for liaising with and providing relevant transition information and forms to, Grade 6 students and their parents/guardians.

To assist with this important decision, an annual Open Night for prospective families is held at South Oakleigh College in Term 2. The time and date of which are advertised extensively to the community.

For access to Placement Information Packs and further documentation please refer to the Moving from Primary to Secondary School webpage, please note not all documentation is made available until Term 2 of each year. Your child’s government primary school may also give you a copy of the pack or forms required. Complete the Application Form and return it to your child’s primary school.

If you are a parent/carer of a student at a non-government school or are currently home-schooling your child, you can download the ‘Placement Information Pack for Non-Government School Parents and Carers’ (available Term 2). Complete the Application Form and return it to your preferred secondary school.
