Instrumental Music

Our instrumental music program has gone from strength to strength at South Oakleigh College.

Music training not only helps children develop their fine motor skills but also aids emotional and behavioural maturation. The more a child trains on an instrument, the more it accelerates cortical organisation in attention skill, emotional control and anxiety management.

We have state-of-the-art facilities, including our 350 seat Performing Arts Theatre where performances are held many times throughout the year, including lunchtime concerts and soirees. Many excursions are also organised such as eisteddfods/competitions and music camps.

We offer tuition in the following instruments:

Voice, Flute, Saxophone, Clarinet, Trumpet, Trombone, Drums, Percussion, Guitar, Bass Guitar and Piano.

All students who enrol in our instrumental music program will participate in one or more of the following ensembles: Choir, Concert Band, Stage Band, Percussion ensemble, Guitar ensemble, Contemporary ensemble and Flute group. However, these ensembles are not limited to those learning instruments.
For a full list of available instruments, please see our Instrumental Music Enrolment Form here.
