South Oakleigh College offer a diverse sporting program that provides all students with the opportunity to develop their physical and mental wellbeing through a variety of subjects, sports and extra-curricular programs that promote and encourage healthy minds and bodies.
Our sports program also prioritises the development of skills that are transferable to all areas of their life; communication, teamwork, leadership and resilience.
HOUSE SPORT CARNIVALS
Throughout the year, students participate in our House Carnivals. These events provide students with the opportunity to qualify for the Monash Division carnivals, whilst also promoting House pride across the school.

INTERSCHOOL SPORT COMPETITION
Our Inter-school sport program enable students to develop their skills, game sense and teamwork through a variety of training and competitive experiences. Students compete against other students in the Monash Division, with winning teams progressing to the Eastern Metropolitan Region competition, and then State Finals.
YEAR 7 & 8 SPORT EDUCATION PROGRAM
Across these two years, students have one timetabled class each week. These sessions enable students to develop their skills and teamwork, and prepare for sports that are part of our Inter-school sport program.
SPORTS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
Our Sports Development program includes AFL, Basketball, Martial Arts, Netball, Soccer and Volleyball, and is supported by professional sports players and coaches who enhance student progress. The training sessions focus on skill development and game sense. The program also includes visits to professional sporting teams, where students get exposure to elite training environments.
STRENGTH & CONDITIONING PROGRAM
Our Strength and Conditioning program is run by an external company, who specialise in training young athletes. This program includes individual screening and testing, and ongoing training sessions that cater for the specific needs of each individual based on training age and experience, and their sports competitions and training. There is also a strong emphasis on recovery and injury prevention.
