We offer a range of Scholarship options to both current and prospective students.
Year 7 Scholarship Program
Scholarships are available to Grade 6 students who have demonstrated outstanding results and commitment. Each of the three scholarship categories is awarded to successful applicants on the basis of a written application, a folio of work achievements, an interview; and, for those applying for an Academic Excellence Scholarship, a test. Students may apply for more than one category of scholarship.
A folio of work achievements supporting your application will be required at your interview.
A monetary prize will be awarded within each category to the successful applicant, that will take the form of a credit note to be used for relevant school expenses. The continuation of the scholarship into Year 8 and beyond will be dependent on a successful yearly review.
Scholarship Categories
Academic Excellence
Scholarships are available for students with an exemplary academic record who have demonstrated outstanding application, aptitude and achievements in Mathematics, English and other subjects. To be considered for this scholarship, students must sit the South Oakleigh College Accelerated Program test.
Sport
This scholarship is awarded based on the student’s achievement profile. It is aimed at students who have shown outstanding sporting skills and potential as leaders, as well as a strong work ethic and willingness to participate in all aspects of College life.
The Arts
This scholarship is awarded to students who have demonstrated a strong commitment and sound ability in any of the Arts including; Music, Drama, Dance, Fine Arts and Multimedia. A strong academic performance in core studies is also required. A folio of work is highly recommended for this category.

Every year at South Oakleigh College the following sponsored awards are presented to current students who demonstrate the attributes of each award.
The Kwong Lee Dow Young Scholars Program is a school-based program that offers high-achieving Year 11 and/or Year 12 students the opportunity to participate in an extensive program of events and activities, including workshops delivered by leading researchers, seminars with world-class teachers and opportunities to interact with other young scholars and members of the University community.
All participants will be granted access to a dedicated portal on the University of Melbourne website, comprising information relevant to their secondary studies and further study opportunities, student blogs and social activities. Young Scholars will also receive an “Approved Borrower” library student card, enabling access to the largest library collection in the southern hemisphere.
First delivered in 1985, the AMPOL Best All Rounder Award celebrates the leaders of tomorrow. This program acknowledges a final year student who has made an exemplary contribution to their school and wider community. The AMPOL Best All Rounder Award is presented in more than 2,000 schools across Australia. Qualities this award recognises include leadership, service and community, sport, arts and culture, attitude, and personal conduct.

This award is presented to Year 10 students who have demonstrated an ongoing commitment to their studies, student leadership, the College and the community as a whole. This award provides support to students to assist them to achieve their educational goals while they continue their education at South Oakleigh College.
Throughout the years Charlie had inspired so many in our community with his leadership and energy through a wide range of community initiatives. Charlie’s voluntary work includes a committee member of Ronal McDonald House, Monash Clayton, a contributor to the Clayton and Clarinda Strengthening Committee; a member of the Clarinda Village Committee; an active member of Neighbourhood Watch; and an enthusiastic member Avicultural Society of Australia for over 40 years.
In honour of a great local community leader, Mr Meng Heang Tak is proud to offer every school in the Clarinda District a leadership award to be presented to a deserving Year 12 student.
The Hon. Steven Dimopoulos is pleased to offer the Community Building Award which can be awarded to a student who has shown an ability to reach out to other students and build a sense of inclusiveness within the school community. The award consists of a $100.00 Chadstone voucher and a certificate.
This award recognises the achievement of a senior student who has made an outstanding contribution to the College Community while attending the school. This contribution is recognised at both the College level and in the broader community.
South Oakleigh College is very fortunate to be a partner school of the Skyline Foundation program. *Skyline Education Foundation Australia provides intensive support for talented students from disadvantaged backgrounds during their VCE studies.
The Skyline Program is the first of its kind in Australia, providing financial, educational, emotional and practical support for bursary recipients. It is an advocate for talented and disadvantaged young people and partners with schools throughout Victoria to deliver the Skyline Bursary Program each year.
Students involved in the program have the opportunity to pursue their passions into tertiary education. They attend residential leadership camps where they work with Skyline alumni and even get to hear inspiring talks by high achieving Australians including Olympians.
This award was created by the Australian Defence Force to acknowledge the achievements of young people, who have demonstrated outstanding qualities of leadership and teamwork either within our College or the wider community. These achievements are underpinned by qualities such as supporting others and doing the best you can, which are values the ADF share with the broader community.
Recognising student achievements in STEM, the Australian Defence Fore is encouraging the next generation of innovators, critical thinkers, and problem solvers – bright Australian students who are succeeding in STEM. As a winner of the ADF Future Innovators Award

This award is presented to a student from each year levels 7 to 10, who have demonstrated a commitment to their studies and has achieved academic excellence throughout the year. Each student receives monetary support which is credited to their charges for the following year.
